Owners Dan and Ellen O’Connell are a delightful couple whose passion for wine is infectious, their knowledge is vast, and the service is friendly. Here at The Wine Shop we never let our distributors rest. We are constantly encouraging them to find the perfectly priced, best tasting wines on the market today. Our latest find is a wine producer in the Loire Valley of France called Domaine Henri Bourgeois.
Domaine Henri Bourgeois Petit Bourgeois Cabernet Franc
Now in their 11th generation of making wine, the Bourgeois family’s 72 hectare rugged hillside vineyard produces some of the most luscious Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc in the world. Their Petit Bourgeois particularly impressed us, which is a Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet Franc as a varietal happens to be the mother clone, which was grafted with a Sauvignon Blanc to create what we know today as Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Sauvignon is now one of the best wines ever made.
Petit Bourgeois Cabernet Franc is fermented in stainless steel to allow the true flavors of the varietal to light up your palate with its mouthwatering aromas. You will taste red current and cherries with the hint of sweet spice. This delicious light, easy drinking wine pairs wonderfully with sautéed mushrooms and grilled pork tenderloin or prosciutto and melon. Another great pairing with this fruity wine is a sunset picnic including fresh stone fruits, an array of specialty cheeses, and fresh baguettes and it’s only $21.95 here at The Wine Shop.
